About us

40 Years,  1982-----2022

40 years is a long time when you are looking forward, but looking back it seems like only yesterday when a small group of enthusiasts got talking in the Rathgory Transport Museum, about the possibility of starting a club as there wasn’t one in the area, in fact forty years ago there wasn’t many clubs in Ireland.

Between the few guys present we could only think of 26 people who had old cars. All were contacted by phone and a Meeting was arranged in the tearoom of the museum, and so started the Rathgory Old Vehicle Club, with 28 members and the following were elected officers: Chairman - Noel Clinton: Secretary - Sally Byrne: Treasurer - the late Peg Wall.

After a while the name was causing confusion between the Rathgory Museum and the Rathgory Club, and soon a decision was made to change the Club’s name to eventually become the North East Vintage Car Club.

The first outing was held in September 1982.

1983 saw the first Mosney Motoring Extravaganza to celebrate 100 years of the Motor Car, this led to the Club successfully running the Mosney International Vintage and Classic Car Show until 2017.

In forty years the NEVCC has grown to be very successful, with a membership of more than 200 at times.

Over the years we had many trips throughout Ireland and many to England and Wales.

Forty years ago, a website was a place where flies got caught and spiders had their dinner, but now NEVCC.net is a website where anyone can visit and see up to date information on the club with lots of photographs, old and new.

Now that we are slowly moving out of Covid we hope to get back to normality, so here’s to the next forty years of the N.E.V.C.C.

Members meet informally at 8.00 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month at The Valley Inn, Dunleer, Co. Louth. New members will receive a warm welcome.
